Prince William paid tribute to the late Pope Francis to the funeral of the Catholic leader in the Vatican City on Saturday, April 26th.
The 42 -year -old Prince of Wales represented the British royal family and his father King Charles at the ceremony, which was also attended by other pianos, foreign dignitaries and religious leaders from around the world, including President Donald Trump and others.
As a heir, Charles represented her mother Queen Elizabeth at the funeral of Pope John Paul II in 2005. In fact, this funeral forced the king to repel her wedding to Queen Camilla with one day so that he and others could attend.
The late Queen Elizabeth has never attended a funeral service for the Pope, despite the fact that four-Piya XII, John XXIII, Paul VI and John Paul I died during their 70-year reign.
None of the British royal family is present at the funeral of Pope Emerit Benedict XVI.
Prince William’s visit to the funeral is the most recent case of the Prince of Wales, who assumes more royal duties as heir to the throne. In the same way, he presented the British monarchy in the re -opening of the emblematic Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris on December 7th.

The 76 -year -old King and Queen Camilla, 77, met with Pope Francis just 12 days before he died on April 9th. The royal couple was on a state visit to Italy at the time, and although their initial plans to meet with the church leader were canceled due to his latest failures in healthcare, they were able to briefly meet. The gifts were exchanged and the Pope wished the king and the queen a happy 20th wedding anniversary, which fell on the same day as their meeting.
Following the news of Easter’s death on Monday, the King released an official statement through Buckingham Palace.
“My wife and I were most sadly sad to learn about Pope Francis’ death,” the monarch said. “However, our heavy hearts were a little relieved to know that his holiness was able to share Easter greetings with the church and the world that has served such devotion throughout his life and ministry.”
“His holiness will be remembered by his compassion, his concern for the unity of the Church and his tireless commitment to the common causes of all people of faith and those of goodwill who work for the benefit of others,” continued King Charles. “His belief that the care of creation is an existential expression of faith in God, resolved with so much all over the world. Through his work and care for both humans and the planet, he deeply touched the life of so much.”

The British monarch also recalled his numerous visits to Pope Francis over the years, adding: “We were heavily moved that we were able to visit him earlier during the month.” The first planned audience of the King and the Queen with his holiness was canceled due to the Pope’s health struggles. He weeks earlier he spent 28 days in the hospital against the background of dual pneumonia treatment.

“To say” old “does not mean” being thrown away “because the deteriorated waste culture sometimes leads us to think,” writes Francis. “To say” old “means to say experience, wisdom, knowledge, insight, care, slowness, slow.”
